With each step new dates came into sight, and a new story was told by pictures, objects, letters, left on the cemetary plot. I couldn’t help but wonder what the real story of each life was… Seemed strange that even though everyone of these people lived very different lives, probably very different lifestyles, came from very different economical backgrounds, and families… they all now Continue reading

What’s really important…

Standard

Years before our kids were even old enough for pre-k I can remember pouring over countless books, curriculum catalogs, and homeschool forums. I studied learning styles, teaching methods, curriculum approaches, and multiple intelligences. I spent hoards of time listening to lectures, webinars, programs, guessing what my childrens learning styles would be. Then I’d spend months more researching curriculum for what would *best* suit them. I interviewed other homeschool moms, asked lots of questions, and came up with a fool proof plan of attack. Or so I thought…

By the time our oldest was 4, I had his educational path well planned out. I knew what curriculum would be best for him, how to teach him, and how to troubleshoot every possible obstacle from pre-K to college. I was prepared. Sure I was a bit nervous, but how hard can pre-K be? Right?! Wrong… Continue reading

Little is needed for happiness…

After our homeschool day was done, we all decided to jump in the pool.  We were all in there laughing, playing, and just talking up a storm.  I was just enjoying being with my children, and realizing how cool they really are.

As a homeschool mom, I often find myself wondering how I made it through the day.  I mean, I can think of all kinds of things I did to help make the day go smoothly, however I know that somedays it can only be attributed to God alone carrying me through.

At the end of the day as I sit alone watching the kids play and listening to them laugh I reflect on how awesome God really is in everyday life… I mean here I am just me.  The me who doesn’t like cooking a main dish with more than 5 Continue reading

I am so patient… or am I?

Ever think you were really good at something, only to find out – you’re not! …Can you recall a moment when you were faced with the realization that what you thought was a strength, in a new light, was actually a weakness?  Ha!

I remember a time before I was married thinking I was quite a catch! I honestly thought I was the most patient, supportive, flexible, open-minded, fun, friendly, positive, rock-awesome gal ever! And let me tell you whoever was going to marry me was going to be one lucky guy!!! HA! Ohhh life! It has a way of whooping you around and setting you straight, doesn’t it?! Unfortunately, when it sets you straight, so often, it isn’t pretty, lol.  It didn’t take long after we said “I do” to realize that there wasn’t anything wrong with my husband, it was me! Yep, I said it, me! Turns out – I overestimated my ranking in several categories, lol. 😉 I realized real quick what a “fixer-upper” I really turned out to be!

Then, there was motherhood Continue reading
