There comes a time in every child’s life when it is necessary for them to sit down with their parent(s) & have “the talk”… Yes about “where babies come from”.
For my older daughter the time had come. I planned it well. I put my younger daughter down for a nap. Sat my beautiful, older, daughter down and we discussed the ins and outs of just how, who, what, and why of all things baby. It could not have gone better. She asked questions, I answered honestly. We laughed. We hugged. It was perfect.
Or so I thought….
Later, while playing at the park with my 4 year old daughter. She met another little girl at the playground. Upon meeting, the little girl said “I’m from Arkansas”. My 4 y/o daughter pauses a moment, looks perplexed, and replies “No, you can’t be. We all come from China”. The little girl, stunned, asks “We do?” To which my 4 y/o daughter confidently replies “Yep! Every mommy has a China and we’re all born there.”
Yes, once again, I am humbled. She obviously wasn’t napping during my talk with my older daughter. I guess I don’t have to worry about this little girl and her mom wanting to plan play dates or syncing park schedules…
